mini update: teacher christmas presents!
so all teachers want gift cards and cash for christmas - we don’t really want anything else but of course we love it all anyway. working at a private school i’ve been lucky to get some really nice gifts over the years, and also some really wacky ones. so today i present to you the coolest gift i got this christmas and the weirdest (but still awesome) gift too.
COOLEST - a hand felted bluebird. one of my students made this himself! he also finger crocheted me an awesome green necklace and bracelet and his mom knit me an incredible purple cowl.
WEIRDEST - a glowing LED color changing glass cobra. this is actually from one of my past students. last year she gave me a glass dragon so i’m pretty sure that the theme is chinese zodiac animals? anyway isaac thinks this is the BEST present i have ever received as a teacher.
p.s. - i am incredibly grateful for each and every gift i get at the holidays and i write each child a special thank you card and mail it to their house over break - i don’t want anyone to think i take any of the wonderfulness of teaching for granted <3
Great post. I got an awesome gift this year: one of my student’s dad’s BBQ Ribs recipe (with a photo!), with the Penzy’s spices to go with it! I was blown away. I LOVE SPICES. I love the notes kids give with their gifts—a note is the most precious gift of all!
7th grade gingerbread house contest.
Okay, which do you think is the boys’ and which is the girls’?

Best gift ever! #teaching
Like a whisk with a tag that reads “Ms. J, I whisk you a Merry Christmas.”
But I do love a good pun.
Come on, I WISH (whisk?) I got that! I got tea, bath products, and a carrot cake so far! Not bad, not bad. :)

I’m not saying it’s necessary, but hello, wouldn’t this Hieroglyphics dress be perfect for when I TEACH hieroglyphics?! Yes, thought so.
How do you teach on sad days?
