Whole30 2 Day 4 (Sunday):
Breakfast: 4 egg whites (cooked in CO), cucumber, salsa, avocado, red onion. This was delicious, but so messy!
Lunch: Salad with chicken (cooked in CO), tomato, red onion, avocado, salsa
Snack: Coconut flakes (again), and a green apple
Dinner (pictured): a cucumber with salsa, a yam with chili, avocado, red onion
Dessert: A peach
Overall: I think I’m eating too much fruit. Why do I think that? Well, for a few reasons. The other day, on the Whole30 website they had this posted: “What foods do you think you should stop eating? The foods which make you scared to think about giving them up.” Now that I stopped eating nuts, I’m on to fruit. It doesn’t SOUND like a lot of fruit, when I write it down, but between the apple, peach, and yam…I think it’s a good amount of natural fruit. And by good, I mean, a lot for my body. I’ve come to realize that I just have no moderation when it comes to food, whether I’m eating refined sugars or not. I used to think if I gave up refined sugars, I’d be better about my moderation, but…not so much. I just look for the next thing to fill the spot. So, I’m going to be cutting back on my fruit intake, and just continuing with my one starchy vegetable a day (or so). By cutting back, I mean not totally giving up fruit for a bit, but thinking of it more like a treat, and less like something I have to eat…which I was doing and not even enjoying the fruit I was having. I’ve also read that sugar can affect acne, so I’m interested to see what will happen if I cut back on my fruit sugar. God knows I eat enough vegetables to get vitamins, so I’m not too concerned with that.
Anyone else feel like they substitute fruit for sugar in their life?
Also, even though I’ve been eating in a Whole30 way, this was day 4 of my second Whole30 and I totally had the “KILL ALL THE THINGS” mentality all day. It sort of makes no sense that I’d have that on the second round as well, but, maybe my body is still adjusting (in fact, no maybes about it, I’m sure it is).
