I totally get where you (and the others who had similar responses on my main site) are coming from, but for me, this is what it comes down to.
I love this: “the other thing about this question that i found interesting was that i totally get it on a personal level. at various points in my life, certain pieces of clothing or accessories have felt like a sort of armor, helping me to feel confident in situations that might have otherwise made me nervous…and i was hard-pressed to let go of them even if they didn’t make a ton of “sense.”“
We’ve all been there for sure. I had plenty of these: my step-dads old blue jeans (I was a fat kid), my ugly red sneakers (ask Jenny about that one), even now I have my ”drecky” shirts as my husband affectionately calls them (my loose ’80s style jersey thin sweatshirts) which I wear when I’m feeling fat or sweaty. These pieces of clothing are extremely important to people, like security blankets—I guess I just think weddings are outside of the realm of most things, since it has to do with someone else’s “big day” about them.
But, I think we need to talk more about the ugly, old, and slightly embarrassing pieces of clothing we can’t live without!
In today’s Subscriber Segment I answer some of the questions, comments and emails I’ve received in recent weeks, talking motorcycles, wardrobe malfunctions, and Lady Gaga.
Thanks for the shout out, Jordan! I was a fan of the costume…but you look NOTHING like Lady Gaga! Fingers crossed for the house…I know how annoying that waiting time can be!
As the saying goes, one person’s bizarro piece of junk, is another person’s bizarro home decor treasure.
DIGS is a judgment-free zone. We love each one of you and your decorating choices equally. So tell us or show us, what’s the weirdest thing in your home right now?
Watch this episode of Jordan In The House for a sneak peek of my home! What’s my favorite piece of home decor? A dulcimer that’s been passed down generations!
I don’t have a ton of money this year for Christmas presents (hullo, wedding), but I’d love to get my future in-laws some awesome gifts. I love crafting, but I hate when craft-gifts look too kitschy…what are some awesome DIY (and cheap) gift ideas for the holidays? (PS. I looove the mason jar idea, but these have to be shipped to Chicago!)
From the comments below my 30 Etsy Finds Under $30 post:
Does anyone have any tips on how to search Etsy? I’ve looked for specific things on the site before, but unless I have a specific “find” in mind, I find the vastness of the site overwhelming. Suggestions?

This is a great question! What I’ve done is started small and worked my way up: I start searching for something I know I love and anytime I find a store that I love, I make it a favorite store. When you start making stores your favorite, then Etsy suggests stores to you (and some of the suggested stores have quickly become my faves!). I also love, love, love the Pounce button. You can search through stores which haven’t made a sale yet (we do this a lot on Lovely), or sales which have just had a sale. Etsy can definitely be overwhelming at times (just like going to the mall), but I’ve had great success with the suggested shops; it’s like having a personal Etsy shopper!
In the comments under my couch post, reader Olivia wrote in about the custom sofa company, Home Reserve, that she used when looking to furnish her own apartment. It sounds pretty awesome, especially for anyone living in a small apartment where space is at a premium.
Sofas start…
I love my Home Reserve couch and loveseat! It’s also a really fun, well-done website. Thanks for the shoutout, Jordan!
Q. Hi Jordan,
My name is Alexis. I’ve been a reader of Ramshackle Glam since the beginning…and I have an easy and a tough question for you:
Easy: What is your recommendation for an easy, healthy, very few ingredient dinner that I can make for us semi-regularly? We don’t want to end up…
Jordan, I 100% agree with your co-hab tips. Eric has his studio, which he decorated and has reign over, and I have the kitchen (and a desk/office space in the living room). It’s nice to have our own spaces to be proud of! I thought your response was spot on, and it’s nice to hear a positive response to this question!
See, I told you robots were all the rage! This little man robot is from Jenny and Jimbob’s jewelry store; thanks, Jordan, for the info on them!
Jordan, due to this post, now and forever more, I will think of you as the “Retro-dish-queen.”

What should I write about for Ramshackle? I want to write something Lovely and Ramshackleglamorous!
