Whole30 Day 15!
Let’s all sing it together, “Woaahhh, we’re halfway there, woahhh…”
Breakfast (pictured): I was going to make scrambled eggs and veggies, but my eggs were frozen! (though, it sounded a little funny when I yelled across the house to Eric, “My eggs are frozen!”). Luckily I had two hard boiled eggs saved from yesterday. So, I made onion, broccoli, 1/2 sweet potato in coconut oil, topped with one full egg + one egg white and avocado. Delicious breakfast! I sort of liked the mix in the hot base and cold toppings. Yum.
Lunch: Salad with tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, EVOO, grilled chicken, and avocado; a slice of nectarine; too many cashews (I was anxious), 3 dates, 4 macadamia nuts; a bowl of my grandmother’s zucchini soup (homemade chicken stock, zucchini, onions, and mushrooms); some chunks of cantaloupe
Dinner: Salad with peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, grilled chicken.
(sorry for the lack of photos!)
Workout: Well, I’ve been saying that while I LOVE eating this way, I haven’t felt this “magic” that everyone on Whole30 talks about. And I still haven’t *felt* it to a strong degree, but something happened today while working out which is definitely new for me!…
…I broke my own record!
I’ve been running (which, in itself is a feat for me) one mile at a 5.0 speed all summer (treadmill). It takes me about 12:15 minutes or so. Today, I decided it was time to buy some of my all time favorite running songs and make a new playlist. So, I hopped on the treadmill and here’s what happened: I ran 1.5 miles, at a speed between 5-5.5! I’ve never run at 5.5 before! I ran straight for about 18-19 minutes, and was on the treadmill for a total of 21 minutes. This was a game changer for me. My body felt strong!
I did lie on the couch for 1/2 an hour afterwards, sweating like a crazy person…but that’s also because I think I’m best eating after my workouts, and today…I didn’t do that. Haha. My stomach was killing me! But, I did it, I did it! I ran more than 1 or even 1.1 miles! What a great way to end the summer, right? :)
